'When God Was A Rabbit' Review...

Sunday, 28 September 2014

'This is a book about a brother and a sister.
It's a book about childhood and growing up, friendships and families, triumph and tragedy and everything in between
More than anything, it's a book about love and all its forms.'

First things first, I'm the realest. (Sorry).
But seriously I apologies for how erratic my posts have been recently, I have recently returned to uni meaning that I actually have things that I need to do other than blogging *BOOO*.
However I am getting back into reading on my commute which I thought I would report back on as books are one of my fav things to talk about.

Soooo this book I really enjoyed, it is a window into the life of  Elly and her relationship with her brother Joe. The book touches on some very serious subjects including 9/11, abuse, divorce, death and kidnapping. But these events act as mile stones throughout the book and means that it has a properly raw edge to a story which is laced with a sense of childhood magic and family life. Think the film 'About Time' mixed with 'The Perks of Being A Wall Flower'.
I really liked the way how the author (Sarah Winman) creates this events inside of your mind whilst your reading instead of writing them down, meaning that when they actually hit you they have a much bigger effect on you!

Overall I would give it 4/5 Stars. A good book to get back into reading with!

Manchester Street Style

Wednesday, 24 September 2014

Ahh Manchester how I love you.

Back to uni after a monstrous summer being set work is quite hard to get back into. However we were set the rather nice task of running around Manchester armed only with cameras and relying on the good nature of Mancunians to let us take pictures of their outfits...

Burberry Prorsum Cape Dupe ...

Friday, 19 September 2014

As we cannot all be graced with the status to be given a personalized cape from Burberry Prorsum, however dreamy they may be. So I have found a dupe for the the rest of us little people to throw on our backs this autumn. This cape/wrap is from good old M&S and for £45 it is a autumn steal and can add a classy lift to any outfit.

My New Autumn Accessory

Thursday, 11 September 2014

Is this not the most adorable bag ever. Just look at it.
I am definitely guilty of buying big bags and filling them till they break or buying the practical 'I can fit my sketchbook, equipment, lunch, dog and Miley's wrecking ball inside this'.
So I decided it was time to buy something that I could fit just the essentials in. And behold this greeted me through the doors of River Island. This little gem at just £20 is my new go-to bag available in all the best winter colours, I feel like this is going to be THE winter bag to have (if I do say so myself).

Is Kendall Jenner taking over the world?

Wednesday, 10 September 2014

Is it just me or is Kendall Jenner everywhere?
I am not complaining, I am a proud Kardashian worshiper and being born into a family that Kanye West accepts, pretty much means you have a birth right to be incredibly successful.
But Kendall seems to be causing a stir in ways her other sisters never have, on the runways of Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Givency just to name drop a few from her first season. I really think we are looking at the next Kate Moss or Naiomi Campbell (minus the anger issues).
Move over Cara there's a new kid in town and she's taking over the world.

August Favourites

Better late than never...

These little bundles of joy are my new obsession. I always used to enjoy picking out new stationary
for school and even though I am nearing 20, I bought two books full of sticky notes.
BUT CAN YOU BLAME ME. Look at them. How beautiful. I am currently using them for making notes for uni on various books, which adds some interest to something which is not exactly exciting.

As you have no doubt seen I recently went to Rhodes with my friend Gabby. Among the sea water, sand, chlorine and sun cream my skin was not in the mood to be messed around with by piling on heavy products. My alternative to this has been for my face The Body Shop's Vitamin E Moisture Creams. With one for day, which is a gel consistence and one for night which is a much thicker whipped cream consistency. I loved how these moisturized my skin without making them feel clogged, it also helped to pro-long my tan once I returned back to England (sigh).

The other is coconut oil which I bought a while ago from Superdrug and for some reason I just put it to the back of my shelf, but I have rediscovered this and I have emptied it in a matter of weeks. The oil is in a solid state which then melts onto your skin and is absorbed. I also use this on the ends of my hair as an alternative to argon oil. It is also is a lot cheaper at only £2.29.

Finally I returned home to a little parcel from India! I have been wanting to try Henna all summer and I finally got the chance to ! I would definitely recommend getting the all natural brand and although it takes a while to get the hang of! Although I didn't think this was too bad for a first attempt.

Let me know what you have been loving this month or link your monthly favorites down below!
Bring on September!
